Football season ended this past friday. We lost to Seymour 29-13. Our guys put up the fight of a lifetime, but it just wasn't enough. In my opinion, there were some very bad coaching decisions, but who am I to judge.
After the game, I walked into the locker room to find the seniors crushed. I along with the rest of the seniors, found ourselves crying and consoling each other. The quarterback, also a senior, was taking it pretty hard. I tried to cheer him up, but the gravity of the situation was too much to just brush off. This was the last time he would ever play with his best friends.
After that, we went to Logan's Roadhouse in downtown Wichita Falls, were the mood was lightened and people started to have a good time. After a long ride home, I trudged into my pickup and started it up, then knowing that that was the last time I would ever be behind the scenes of a football game. A sad evening indeed.
But this starts a new chapter in my final school year. We'll be starting One Act Play practice next week, and I'm the lead actor once again. This year is an ensemble show, which is a completely new thing to me, but it look very interesting and I cant wait to get started.
Christmas is also on its way, and I have no clue what I want for Christmas. My parents are just going to have to surprise me this year.
If you'll excuse me, I may have to go to the store and get some Zicam. I feel a tickle in my throat and snot is starting to drain.
Just got home from the Electra game. A two-and-a-half hour drive each way, for an hour-and-a-half game. I'm tired, and all I have to do is press record.
The good thing is that we won. 32-0. Not bad, even though Electra is one of the worst teams we'll ever play, with the exception of Saint Jo.
I'm gonna shower and hit the hay.
No football playoffs this year. I wasn't really getting my hopes up about it, but it has to be depressing for the players themselves. It's been tough adjusting to a new coach with a new vision.
Since my filming job is over, I can finally focus on something actually interesting. UIL competition is starting to heat up. I went to a meet yesterday and brought home fourth place in Computer Applications. Not too bad for the first meet of the year with a printer that only printed in pink.
Tomorrow will be pretty interesting. Our Dual Credit US History class will be visiting the Holocaust museum in Dallas. We'll actually get a chance to speak to an actual Holocaust survivor for an hour. It'll probably be a trip we won't soon forget.
We finally won our first game. Something in the team clicked, and they really performed. The long ride home wasn't so long as it could have been. Just thought I'd tell everyone who actually was wondering. I'll post something more interesting eventually.
Headed to Petrolia tomorrow afternoon for the varsity game. It's the farthest away game for VV. A two hour drive in a hot, cramped van full of football equipment. Glad I have the iPod handy. We have to win this one, or it will be one long ride home.
The Nintendo Wii is set to come out Novermber 19th, and I'm considering a pre-order. I was very impressed with the features Nintendo had shown at their recent press conference. The first game I would but would probably be Excite Truck, since I'm a huge fan of the racing games. The Wii Sports package being pre-bundled was also a great idea. I will be waiting with bated breath.
Had a pretty good time at my family reunion in Stamford. The weekend consisted of three geocaches and an unsafe, unregistered pontoon boat made of expanded metal and square tubing scooting down the Brazos. You have to have fun with what you have, and we had a blast.
Our football team lost their first game of the season. Our new coach hasn't yet won my approval, and this game didn't really help that situation. He's made it Aubrey 2.0, and our players aren't compatible with the new software.
But all of this aside, sombering news came from Australia this morning.
Steve Irwin died while filming at the Great Barrier Reef yesterday by a sting to the heart by a Stingray. He died doing what he loved; cherishing nature and it's beauty, and sharing his passon with the world. We here in the 'States will miss him dearly, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Terri, their two children Bindi and Bob, and their extended family at the Australia Zoo. We have lost an icon, and the void is unfillable.
