It was a long day yesterday. Not only did I pull off a ten hour day helping run a UIL meet, but I also watched UNT stomp Troy 90-64. Not a bad day, but a very tiring one.
I'm about to write two essays today. One for English and one for Economics. The Econ one should be simple, since it's just a one page bullshit session about a news article. I'm not too worried about the English, either.
I better get started, then. I just wanted to update real quick.
Got the old job back last week, and I start this Tuesday. It's gonna be nice to get back to the place I enjoyed so much a year ago, and it's still hard to believe its been a year.
I'm at a Panera Bread right now, getting ready to go and visit my grandma. Hopefully she's in a good mood.
I watched some of my best friends graduate yesterday, and it was a brief, touching ceremony. It pretty much had to be brief, since the average class size in the Valley is about 45 to 50. This one was even smaller, though, with 35.
It's now just starting to sink into me that two of my favorite teachers are leaving. Mrs. C, who helped me so much with my UIL competitions and at generally being a better person, is retiring after working tirelessly for over 30 years, even during a bout with breast cancer. And Mrs. K, the history teacher that helped me focus more on my future, is leaving for her own brighter future as principal of Paducah ISD near Childress. I'll miss both of them equally, since both of them have made a gigantic impact on my life. I don't know where I would be without them.
There is also a person leaving that is a blessing. Mrs. McC, our counselor, is retiring after only one year of uselessness, incompetence, and one of the most annoying voices on the face of this earth. Fran Drescher ain't got crap on this woman. Good riddance, I say.
Not sure what I'm going to do this Memorial Day, besides hating Bush and questioning the electoral college voting system. Perhaps eat a steak, if I can afford it; Or drive...well...eat a steak. Yeah.
I've just got hooked on Al Gore's Current network. I've watched it on and off a few times, but now I've really started to get into the format. Al Gore's still trendy...he did invent the internets and all.
I won third place at regionals, and will be going to state in May. We had a great time in Nac, but I really don't want to ever take that long drive again.
TAKS week this week. For those of you that live outside of the Lone Star State, TAKS is the Texas standardized test for 3rd through 11th grade. I just took the math portion of the Exit Level TAKS today, and science and social studies follow tomorrow and Friday. We took English in February, but the results come in when the math and others do, right before school's out.
I've been looking for a job, since there's a slight chance that Northwest will not hire me this summer. I just got some good news, though. Since they're revamping their whole network backbone this summer, a opening might come up. Wish me luck.
I'm sitting in our hotel room in Lufkin, waiting for tomorrow to come. I got the opportunity to compete in the regional Computer Apps Competition as an alternate. Turns out the other guy who was going to go just decided he didn't want to. So now is my time for redemption.
I just bought Cooking Mama for my DS from the Wal-Mart in Nacogdoches, and it has been completely addicting. Everyone in the room has been making Salisbury Steak and Fried Chicken like a motherf***er. It's been a good way to let out our frustrations before tomorrow.
Our One Act Play advanced to district Wednesday. We'll be headed to GCC again next Tuesday to duke it out once more. I also am headed to Trenton for my Computer Applications competition on Monday as well. Lot's of stuff going on.
I'm nearing the end of spring break, and also nearing competition time for one act play. We still need LOTS of work, and the zone contest is next week. I hope a miracle happens.
Our local Wal-Mart is being butchered remodeled as of now. The pharmacy has been relocated into a plywood shack while the old one is enlarged, and all of the signs on the wall have been torn off. There are items strewn around the aisles, and construction noise and dust is everywhere. It will be very nice though when it is completed.
See? This is why I haven't posted in a while. All I have to talk about is school and my Wal-Mart being revamped. I'll talk to all of you as soon as I get some less boring content.
Exams are over, and easier than expected. Another UIL meet on Saturday, and I have the day off tomorrow and Monday.
Next week I'll be waiting for my new laptop to come in. What? You would like a picture? Well, I hope you won't be jealous.
Sweet, huh? What's that? Oh, well, it is getting on in age, but it can still do a lot at the ripe old age of 21. With the right cables and such, I'll be posting here remotely in no time! It's only a matter of time until it arrives at my doorstep.
The Aubrey meet sucked. It had to be the worst, most poorly organized, understaffed, boring UIL meet I have ever been to. Our Improv competition wasn't that great either. We will NEVER give Aubrey the pleasure of us coming back to this poor excuse of a tournament. It. Sucked. Balls.
No football playoffs this year. I wasn't really getting my hopes up about it, but it has to be depressing for the players themselves. It's been tough adjusting to a new coach with a new vision.
Since my filming job is over, I can finally focus on something actually interesting. UIL competition is starting to heat up. I went to a meet yesterday and brought home fourth place in Computer Applications. Not too bad for the first meet of the year with a printer that only printed in pink.
Tomorrow will be pretty interesting. Our Dual Credit US History class will be visiting the Holocaust museum in Dallas. We'll actually get a chance to speak to an actual Holocaust survivor for an hour. It'll probably be a trip we won't soon forget.
I take the THEA test this Friday for my Dual Credit classes this upcoming school year. I hope I do well. The math portion is all I'm worried about.
We lost our high school guidance counselor during the summer. She just decided it wasn't for her. We shouldn't have gotten rid of the one we had before this one. I hope my request is fulfilled to just take a half semester of PE, since that's all I need. I want to get it done as soon as I can, since at our school they do pretty much nothing in PE. Other than that obstacle my schedule should be good this year. I should be in the first ever Robotics class ever taught at the 'View. It should be a lot of fun. Also, I have UIL Computer Apps this year as well. It's back to state, hopefully. I'm probably going to be varsity football filmer again this year, too. Lots of memories made from that job last year. These final two years of high school are gonna be great.
